Lung cancer is a malignant tumour that grows in one or both of the lungs.

As part of the State-wide implementation of the Cancer Services Framework under the Multidisciplinary Care Project, the Victorian Department of Human Services has developed a Multidisciplinary meeting toolkit. The toolkit was developed to assist the development of multidisciplinary teams in meeting the Patient Management Frameworks set out for each tumour stream.

Palliative care understands the needs of people living with a life-threatening illness, where a cure may no longer be possible. The focus of care is to provide pain relief and control symptoms to enhance quality of life. Our team approach also aims to support the psychological and spiritual needs of the patient, carer and family.

The Western Health Dermatology team have a weekly skin cancer clinic at 1.30pm on Friday afternoons in outpatients at Footscray hospital. This clinic sees approximately 20 patients and does minor procedures and biopsies on the day.
