Colorectal cancer is a term to describe cancers that occur in the large intestine of the digestive system. These cancers can also be called bowel, colorectal or colon cancer. Sometimes they are also called Lower Gastrointestinal cancers.

Western Health Cancer Services department recognises consumers as key partners in our work. We are committed to making sure consumers have a voice in planning how our services are provided and how they can be improved. The consumer voice provides us with valuable information from experts – those who receive the service.

There are a range of tests that are used to help diagnose cancer and to monitor the effectiveness of treatment.

As part of the State-wide implementation of the Cancer Services Framework under the Multidisciplinary Care Project, the Victorian Department of Human Services has developed a Multidisciplinary meeting toolkit. The toolkit was developed to assist the development of multidisciplinary teams in meeting the Patient Management Frameworks set out for each tumour stream.
