If you've been to Sunshine Hospital lately you will no doubt have noticed an energetic buzz coming from the construction site of the Joan Kirner Women's and Children's Hospital.
Significant rock breaking has been undertaken as part of the in-ground works preparing for the provision of services and ground concrete slab pours has cause a signifcant amount of noise and vibration around the site.
Basement tunnel excavation works and preparatory works for the link bridges that will connect the current Sunshine Hospital building to JKWCH on level one and two have also been a major focus.
The building site has become a hive of activity with the volume of trucks coming on site and the number of contractors growing. The crew operating the cranes are now on site full time with tower cranes Big Billy and Betty working away. Over 800 cubic meters of concrete have been poured to date. August also saw the first delivery and installation of pre caste panels.
As the weather warms up the building will be springing to life. Keep updated on developments in construction via the Western Health Facebook page.
