These roles cover many departments and areas within the sites. Some of the tasks are:
Patient support trolley – volunteers take a trolley around the wards and offer the opportunity to patients and visitors to purchase a newspaper, toiletries, magazines and other personal items. This is offered at Sunshine & Western Hospitals.
Tea & Coffee Trolley – volunteers manage a refreshment trolley in outpatients and women's clinic departments to offer tea & coffee to patients and visitors while they are waiting to be seen by the clinicians. Volunteers are also encouraged to spend time speaking with those patients that may seem a little anxious. Volunteers also assist staff by informing them of any patients who may be seen to be not coping with the waiting time.
Newspaper Office – this is a role specifically at Western Hospital that supports an area that sells newspapers and magazines to the patients and visitors. Basic administration roles are also completed in this area.
Volunteer Driver – this role is specifically at Williamstown Hospital in the Community Based Rehabilitation Unit. Volunteers utilize organizational vehicles to complete a pick up and drop off service for outpatients to attend their rehabilitation appointments at Williamstown Hospital. All training and equipment is supplied.
