Positions are available at Sunshine Hospital, which has recently received significant investment with upgrades to the Emergency Department, and at Footscray Hospital, where a brand new hospital will open in 2025.
What we’re offering
We are offering full-time Emergency Nursing positions with a scholarship opportunity to complete the 12-month Graduate Certificate in Critical Care Nursing (Emergency) provided by the University of Melbourne.
The role will see you working in a friendly, supportive, fun, fast-paced, professional environment. You will be working closely with other RNs, Nurse Unit Managers and Associate Nursing Unit Managers, Emergency Medicine Specialist doctors, Allied Health professionals, Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police and the Department of Health.

This will accelerate the career of ED Nurses who see themselves as future leaders and want to work in high-acuity areas without supervision. It arms you with the skills and evidence-based knowledge to provide specialist care in a fast-paced, constantly-changing ED environment. This certificate also allows you to meet entry requirements for the University’s Master of Advanced Nursing Practice, if that is of interest.
What you will need
For this opportunity, you will need a Bachelor of Nursing and ED or acute nursing experience. It will require a commitment to a 12-month length of study with the University of Melbourne and a 3-year minimum length of employment at Western Health. You’ll also be looking to develop your already strong communication and leadership skills.
