Bowled over by generosity

Williamstown was a sea of pink earlier this month as the Williamstown Imperials Cricket Club hosted its Pink Ladies Luncheon to raise money for Western Health's BreastWest program.
With the cricket match in the background, cricketers wore pink pads to bat in front of pink stumps. 145 guests attended the sold out luncheon to raise $13,000 in support of BreastWest. Funds were raised throughout the day from ticket sales, auction items, sponsorship and general donations.
"This is the second year we have hosted the Pink Ladies Luncheon. It's an important day on our club calendar as many of us have been touched by cancer," said Club President Michael Skinner.
"I would like to thank everyone who helped organise, supported and made the luncheon a success to raise $13,000 for BreastWest. It was great to hear from Breast Care Nurses Lisa and Sue about how BreastWest supports patients and their families at a very practical level."
BreastWest provides practical and personal support to patients undergoing breast cancer treatment including helping with expenses ranging from transport costs, hospital appointments, wigs, breast prostheses and mastectomy bras. The program is 100% funded through donations.
"Fundraising events like the Pink Ladies Luncheon are important for us to be able to support the 188 patients we see on average each year who are diagnosed with breast cancer," said Lisa, Breast Care Nurse.
"Thank you to the Williamstown Imperials Cricket Club for hosting this event. Donations will make a direct impact to patients and their families to assist them in the different stages of their cancer experience."
