Welcome to the new Foundation Director, Julia White.
Originally from Perth, I moved to Melbourne in 1996 and after trying on a few neighbourhoods around the city, eventually found my spiritual home in the western suburbs, where I have lived for the past decade.
I come to Western Health after seven years with Zoos Victoria, heading up their fundraising and philanthropic activities.
In that time I was responsible for significantly increasing the zoo's income from donations and raising the profile of fundraising in general across the zoos.
While animals and wildlife conservation has been a great cause to support, it was the opportunity to work more closely with my own community that drew me to the role at Western Health.
I'll be on a steep learning curve getting my head around all the health-related acronyms, but am looking forward to finding out a lot more about the great work that is being done across the organisation, and working together to ensure we add value and support where it's needed.
In my spare time, I love going to the movies and seeing live performances. I also make a mean martini!
I'm a passionate gardener and am in the midst of single-handedly landscaping my entire garden. I'm also a foster parent, with a 21-year-old former foster child still living at home.
Anyone wanting to talk fundraising, give garden tips or discuss their favourite gin can find me in the Western Health Foundation offices on the Ground Floor at Footscray Hospital or next to the Auxiliary and Opportunity shops at Sunshine Hospital.
