Western Health Emergency Response Fund
For the most vulnerable in our community, the effects of the coronavirus pandemic will be felt for many months to come. Your donation to the Western Health Emergency Response Fund will enable us to provide support for those in need right now.
Over the last few months we have all faced the challenges associated with the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. On behalf of our healthcare workers, thank you for all that you have done to help flatten the curve and minimise the spread of the virus in our community.
The Western Health Emergency Response Fund was launched in March to help us to respond quickly to the COVID-19 crisis.
Donations have provided for three video laryngoscopes (a device that allows doctors to examine a patient's throat and lungs from a safe distance) as well as funding the prototype of a protective hood for COVID-positive patients being treated at Western Health. This innovative design has attracted much interest from healthcare organisations around the world.
Although the immediate crisis appears to be easing, we know that the financial and emotional impacts will be felt in our community for many months to come.
Already our frontline staff are starting to see the impacts of the prolonged isolation period, with an increase in domestic violence and mental health presentations at our hospitals.
Our support staff are also providing assistance to an increasing number of patients facing economic hardship.
The Emergency Response Fund will now help us to respond to this next wave of need in our community - those who might not have been infected by the virus, but who have still suffered.
With your support we will continue to find practical ways to provide help for all who need it.
Your donation to the Western Health Emergency Response Fund will make a significant difference to the care and comfort of our most vulnerable patients.
