The Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychology Service provides specialist cognitive, developmental and behavioural assessment of school-age children, diagnosing neuropsychological disorders, formulating management plans, and undertaking counselling where appropriate.
Information, advice, and support is offered to parents, carers, staff and other relevant parties (e.g. general practitioners, paediatricians, teachers etc.) in regards to neuropsychological syndromes and their management. The Paediatric Clinical Neuropsychologists are also involved in the development and evaluation of specific team programs, initiatives and research where appropriate.
Eligibility for the Paediatric Neuropsychology Service
Children who meet the following criteria are eligible for the service:
Not currently receiving or eligible to receive support from an equivalent service
No previously diagnosed disability or developmental disorder*
Attending primary school at time of referral**
Residential address in City of Melton, Brimbank, Hobsons Bay, Maribyrnong or Wyndham
* Unless there are additional features of the child’s presentation that cannot be explained. These referrals will be assessed on a case-by-case basis.
** Referrals for preschool children will be assessed on a case-by-case basis and will only be accepted from other allied health professionals within the Children’s Allied Health Service.

A referral letter from a Paediatrician or an internal Western Health referral is required to access the service.
