Clinical and Health Psychologists practicing in the health sector are specialists in the assessment, diagnosis, management and treatment of major mental health disorders and other psychological problems that are common in the context of medical conditions and injury. 

 

They are skilled in the use of specialist clinical interview and a range of formal psychological tests that can assist with assessment, diagnosis and treatment planning.  Psychological treatment can take a variety of forms (e.g. Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness) with the underlying philosophy being an orientation to change.

 

The Clinical and Health Psychology Service provides a prioritised service to the following areas:

  • Renal Inpatients

  • Inpatient Rehabilitation Ward

  • Radiation Therapy Centre
