Results will be sent to you via your preferred method. 

To receive results directly into your Medical Practice Software please complete the request for result form and send to us.

If test results are required urgently, please contact the laboratory concerned and speak with a senior scientist or Pathologist. 

Direct communication greatly assists with prioritisation of testing.

Pathology requires you to complete a new request form for any additional tests you may require on a specimen. 

For internal WH requests, add on tests can be requested via the EMR using priority status ‘AD’, this will be sent to the lab for action. GPs should fax add on requests to the laboratory (03) 9076 8367.

Most specimens are kept for approximately 7 days at most sites. 

For patients requiring critical care and in circumstances requiring a prompt response, we provide access to pathology expertise from experienced personnel 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. 

The on-call pathologists are the most senior and experienced personnel we have available at any given time. They are senior clinical staff or laboratory managers, all of whom have a significant amount of expertise in their chosen discipline.

Our staff will arrange a courier pick up. 

Pathology provides a limited home visit service for vulnerable  patients. 

A doctor’s authorisation is required. 

Home visits can be booked Monday to Friday from 8: 30 am to 4 pm by contacting (03) 7078 0111 

Please tick “Rule 3 Exemption” on the request form. The blood collection staff will photocopy the form. It may be used for 6 months or six visits, whichever comes first.
