Rotary Club Funds New Equipment for Bacchus Marsh Hospital
Bacchus Marsh Hospital has received more than $11,000 worth of new clinical and training equipment, thanks to the generous support of the Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club.
The hospital identified seven priority items across the Medical Surgical Unit, Maternity Ward, Emergency Department, Education Department and Operating Theatre. All items have now been delivered and are already in use.
Rotary President David Wright and Community Committee Chair Davina Cabrie visited the hospital last week to see the equipment firsthand and meet the teams benefiting from the donation.
“We wanted to support the hospital in a meaningful way, so we asked what was needed,” Ms Cabrie said. “They gave us a list, and we were proud to fund every item.”
The new equipment includes several simulation tools to enhance staff training, such as an IV Arm for practising blood collection and IV insertion, an episiotomy trainer and incision pad for midwifery skills, a pack of 10 injection trainers, and an ostomy trainer to help staff develop confidence in ostomy care.
To directly support patient care, the Medical Surgical Unit received a Viking patient walking tutor to assist with safe early mobilisation. The Emergency Department and Operating Theatre now share a portable video laryngoscope - an essential device that allows clinicians to clearly visualise a patient’s airway during intubation in both surgical and emergency situations.
Mr Wright said the Rotary Club’s contribution was inspired by the exceptional care he and his wife received during the recent birth of their daughter at the hospital.
“The staff were amazing in every way, and the midwives were incredibly generous with their time,” he said.
The Bacchus Marsh Rotary Club has expressed interest in continuing its support for the hospital, further strengthening the partnership between the organisation and the local community.
