About Clinical Ambient AI application

Your clinician may be participating in a trial of the Clinical Ambient AI (CAA) application, a tool designed to support clinical notetaking during appointments. If you agree to have your appointment recorded, you will be asked to sign a consent form. Participation is entirely voluntary. If you do not wish to take part, please inform your clinician.

The CAA application helps clinicians to spend less time typing and more time listening and engaging with you. During your appointment, it will record the conversation between you and your clinician. The CAA application will then transcribe your recording into draft clinical notes, helping to create an accurate and comprehensive record of your care.

All notes generated by the CAA application are reviewed and approved by your clinician before being added to your health record. 

Your consent is important. Your clinician must obtain your consent before using CAA application during your appointment. Participation is entirely voluntary. You may decline to participate or withdraw your consent at any time. Your decision will not affect the care and treatment you receive.

During your consultation, the CAA application securely records and transcribes the conversation between you and your clinicians to generate draft clinical notes. Any audio recordings will be permanently deleted after 7 days after the notes have been finalised.

Only the final clinical notes, which have been reviewed and approved by your clinician, will be added to your health record.

Protecting your privacy and personal information is a priority. Your information is secured using encryption and stored on secure servers located in Australia.

Audio recordings are retained only for as long as necessary and are permanently deleted after 7 days. Your information is not used to train artificial intelligence (AI) systems and will not be used for research or marketing purposes.

The CAA application complies with Western Health’s Privacy Policy.

Your de-identified information may be used by the provider of the AI scribe service for service analysis including security and operations management, statistical analysis and research and development purposes which may include AI-related development and training activities. Information used for these purposes will not identify you.  Your information will not be used to train large language models for the benefit of the AI scribe provider, other customers or third parties. 

The CAA application assists in preparing draft clinical notes but does not make medical or clinical decisions. Your clinician reviews and approves all information and remains responsible for the accuracy and completeness of your health record.
