Generally the 12 months of clinical placements required as part of CICM training is split over 2 years with clinical placements in intensive care at Western Health. The Medical Ambulatory Day Unit, or MADU unit, is for patients who need treatment for a variety of conditions in hospital, without needing to stay overnight. It has 6 chairs and 2 beds for treatment.

Hospital in the Home (HITH) provides care in the home that would otherwise need to be given during a stay in hospital. HITH often provides an alternative to admission to hospital, or an opportunity for earlier transfer home, than would otherwise be possible.
