Maternity Connect Program

The Maternity Connect Program (MCP) is a Department of Health initiative designed to support rural public maternity services and their staff. The program helps ensure that rural maternity teams can meet the needs of the women and families in their communities. 

How the program works

The MCP provides clinical placement opportunities for midwives and nurses working in maternity services. These placements help staff: 

  • build confidence in their clinical skills
  • stay up to date with best practices in maternity care
  • continue their professional development. 

Program management

Western Health delivers the Maternity Connect Program on behalf of the Department of Health. The success of the program depends on:  

  • the demand for placements 
  • the positive impact the program has on participants and maternity services.
