Last night more than 600 Western Health staff were recognised at the 2023 Employee Service Award Presentations.
With the length of service ranging from 10 through to 50 years, Western Health CEO, Adj. Prof. Russell Harrison said he was thrilled to celebrate the 604 staff who have dedicated so much of their careers to Western Health.
“It’s important to take the time to acknowledge the incredible people we have working here at Western Health,” he said.
Two staff members celebrated a very monumental 50 years of service. Dorn Addison joined Western Health as a Handcraft Instructor in 1972 and Lyn Tyrrell in 1973 as a Typist and Office Clerk in the Medical Imaging Department.
Dorn undertook further study and joined the Social Work department in 1976 where she remains working today. Lyn has stayed within in the Medical Imaging Department, now working as a Transcriptionist.
“Everyone has a different story to tell about their journey through Western Health and I really enjoyed hearing them. Giving 50 years of service to an ogranisation is no mean feat and I thank Dorn and Lyne for their commitment and dedication,” Mr Harrison said.
“Every single staff member celebrating should be congratulated, as should all of the team at Western Health who give so much to support best care. This level of commitment and hard work is fundamental to improving the health and wellbeing of the people and communities of Melbourne’s West.”
