Research into the survival
impact of the Australian National Bowel Cancer Screening Program
(NBCSP) has featured in a prominent story in the Internal Medicine Journal
online. The lead researcher was Western Health oncologist, Dr Sumitra Ananda.
Patients with bowel screening-detected colorectal cancer have a markedly
reduced risk of colorectal cancer recurrence and death compared to patients with
a symptomatic presentation.
