Volunteers support Western Health's fundraising initiatives in numerous ways. Fundraising volunteers support the Western Health Foundation through event preparation, tin rattling or helping out with tasks on the day of an event. You can also volunteer your time in the Auxiliary Shops or Opportunity Shops located at Western Hospital Footscray, Williamstown and Sunshine Hospital. All volunteers in these roles are part of the volunteer team and have all of the same training and rights and responsibilities as the rest of the volunteer team.
"I never thought that I would feel so great after helping with Tin Rattling at the Footy Day at Etihad Stadium. I thought that I would feel self conscious but I didn't as I was shown how to approach people and we had a great day raising money for the Children's Ward at Sunshine Hospital. (Brianna aged 16 years who has been volunteering for 12 months)
"I just look forward to my shift in the Opportunity Shop every week. I really feel like we are helping to make the Hospital better for my community by the money that we raise. I volunteer with the same ladies every week and we have become great friends too" (Jean has been volunteering for 25 years)
