Cashing in on a good cause
Shops and businesses across the western suburbs are showing their support for Western Health, by placing authorised collection boxes on their countertops. The grassroots fundraising campaign is raising money and generating awareness by encouraging people to deposit their loose change to raise vital funds for their local hospitals.
Hundreds of secure collection boxes will be distributed in shops and businesses around Footscray, Williamstown, Sunshine and St Albans to collect donations.
Business owner Bao Phan from VN Wrap and Roll has pledged his support with all of his six shops featuring the collection boxes on their countertops.
"We are always happy to support Western Health," says Bao. "The hospital is important to us and whatever we can do to help raise money, we will."
VN Wrap and Roll has shops located close to Western Health's hospitals in Sunshine, Footscray and Williamstown as well as stores in South Melbourne and the city.
"We are so grateful to business owners such as Bao who have gotten behind this community fundraising initiative," says Danny Crabb, Community Fundraising Manager. "With other businesses coming on board, the collection of small change adds up very quickly to make a big difference for our hospitals."
In keeping with changing times, the collection boxes also feature QR codes to enable online donations where supporters can make larger donations and receive a tax-deductible receipt.
Every business or organisation taking part in the collection program will be acknowledged on the Western Health Foundation website.
