Williamstown Hospital upgrade one step closer
With fundraising for the Williamstown Hospital Appeal now complete, the highly anticipated project has moved into the planning stage, with work scheduled to commence towards the end of this year.
Over $2.3 million was raised from the Appeal, thanks to the generous support of the local community.
Thank you to everyone who supported the Appeal.
While providing 21st century healthcare, Williamstown Hospital has ageing infrastructure that doesn't allow for the open, community wellness spaces and design features that most modern hospitals offer - elements that have been proven to improve patient care.
The new entry will provide a safe and inviting space. Landscaping will improve wheelchair access from the kerb. A new covered walkway with patient and visitor seating will provide a welcoming arrival or a more relaxing journey home.
The new hospital foyer will include a new visitor lounge, with access to a courtyard garden – a place for patients and families to enjoy.
The Community Hub will become the new heart of the hospital. This large open plan building will blend indoors and outdoors with green spaces, community art and a cafe with attractive areas for patients and families to enjoy. It will include meeting spaces, consulting areas and an Honour Wall to thank our generous donors to this Appeal.
It will open onto the Healing Court, a beautifully landscaped garden designed for both therapy and relaxation.
The Hub will also connect with the old original hospital wings, a part of our history, which will become our new Learning Centre. This centre will also be open to the community for a range of health-related activities.
More details about the Williamstown Hospital upgrade will be released in coming months.
