Cardiac Outpatient Rehabilitation Services

 

Western Health provides Cardiac Rehabilitation programs located within the Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) centres at Sunshine Hospital and Williamstown Hospital. This is an important part of long term care of people who have heart problems. Heart problems include heart attack, angioplasty/stent and heart surgery.

Chronic Heart Failure (CHF) Rehabilitation is also provided at Sunshine Hospital. CHF is the inability of the heart to supply enough blood flow to the body.

Both these programs aim to help people with heart disease learn more about their condition, how to manage it and how to reduce the risk of further problems in the future.

Cardiac Rehabilitation Program Timetable

We have:

• ​Cardiac Rehabilitation runs once a week for 6 weeks.​

• Heart failure rehabilitation runs twice week for 8weeks.​

Each education session is run by Allied Health professionals. Education sessions will include information about:

•  nutrition

• exercise

• heart disease

• stress management

• activities of daily living (for example activities completed during everyday life)

• psychology and social support networks
