What can MCP offer health service managers?
The program assists maternity teams to maintain the skills, knowledge and confidence needed to manage clinical situations in line with their maternity service's capability level.
The MCP will enable health service managers to identify and forward plan learning and development opportunities for their midwives which occurs at a time that suits both the local service and the midwife.
Health service managers are able to select from a range of experiences depending on the need of the health service and the midwife going through the program. For example, experiences and learning's may include Antenatal, Fetal monitoring, Midwifery Assessment Centre, Postnatal and Domiciliary.
Wages, accommodation and some travel expenses are incurred by MCP for the duration of the placement.
Maternity Connect are able to provide assistance to assess and prioritise the learning need for a specific service, negotiate a relevant placement for a midwife, define the learning objectives and evaluate the impact of the placement on the rural midwifery team. Western Health have developed the necessary Human Resources agreements.
