The Division of Perioperative and Critical Care Services incorporates the Surgery, Cardiology and Intensive Care Programs.
Perioperative Service
The Perioperative Service is responsible for the provision of both elective and emergency surgical procedures including multi-day stay and day procedures across Footscray Hospital, Sunshine Hospital, Williamstown Hospital and Sunbury Day Hospital and incorporates adult and paediatric case mix. Sterilising departments are also managed across all campuses and service Western Health and external clients. Clinical Nurse Consultants are aligned to the service and provide organisational support across clinical specialties. Within the perioperative program the Department of Anaesthetics provides services to all areas of the organisation and incorporates the acute and chronic pain service.
Cardiology
The Cardiology program provides a range of services targeted at diagnosis, intervention and treatment of patients affected by cardiovascular disease. Cardiology consists of inpatient and outpatient services located predominantly at Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital
ICU
Located at Footscray and Sunshine hospital, the 14 bed intensive care unit provides a range of supportive therapies to the critically ill patient 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Configuration of the unit incorporates high dependency beds which are utilised as either HDU or ICU depending on demand. The unit is supported by an ICU Nurse Liaison Service which operates at Footscray Hospital and Sunshine Hospital.
